Agroland Taesin Ranch 〉
Agroland Taesin Ranch was established in 1968, marking the beginning of Korea's dairy industry, and relocated to its current site in 1978. Since 2004, it has been the first in the country to operate a dairy experience farm, opening the ranch to the public for hands-on encounters with various livestock. It offers a pastoral landscape of green meadows and a place to experience life with cows in nature. Facilities include a ranch experience area, horseback riding area, sculpture park, wildflower garden, pasture experience area, ecological pond and walking trails, animal farm, love parrot enclosure, Korean beef pasture, thujamiro maze, and snack bar. Experience programs include tractor train rides, milking cows, ranch activities, horseback riding, and ice cream making. Nearby attractions include Myeoncheon Eupseong, Myeoncheon Hyanggyo, Myeoncheon Reservoir, Hapdeokje Waterside Park, and Hapdeok Water Management Folk Museum.
Gongsanseong Fortress, Gongju [UNESCO World Heritage] 〉
Gongsanseong Fortress is a representative fortress of the Baekje period and was the mountain fortress protecting Gongju when it was the capital of Baekje. It served as the Baekje capital until the 16th year of King Seong of Baekje (538) when the capital was moved to Buyeo, and afterward was a regional administrative center until the Joseon Dynasty, making it a historically significant site. It is a valley-enclosed fortification (pogokhyeong 산성) located on a hill by the Geumgang River, originally built as an earthen fortress, later reconstructed as a stone fortress in the Joseon period. The exact construction date is unknown. In Baekje, it was called Ungjinseong, during Goryeo Gongjusanseong or Gongsanseong, and after King Injo fled there during Yi Gwal's Rebellion (1623) in Joseon, it was called Ssangsusanseong. After Baekje's fall, King Uija stayed briefly, and it was a base for Baekje restoration movements. During Unified Silla, Kim Heon-chang's Rebellion (822) took place here. The fortress is roughly rectangular, about 800m east-west and 400m north-south. Gate sites are confirmed on all sides; the south gate Jinnamru and north gate Gongbukru remain. The east and west gates only had sites remaining; in 993, Yeongdongru was restored at the east gate site and Geumseoru at the west gate site. Defensive facilities such as secret gates, citadels, ancient towers, watchtowers, and water gates remain. Inside are Ssangsujeong Pavilion, Yeongeunsa Temple, Yeonji Pond, Imryugak Site, and Manharu Site. Numerous relics including lotus-patterned roof tiles, Baekje roof tiles, pottery, and artifacts from Goryeo and Joseon periods have been excavated. Walking along the fortress wall offers panoramic views of Gongju city. During the Baekje Cultural Festival, a floating bridge connects from Gongsanseong to Geumgang Shingwan Park. At Geumseoru, one can witness the dignity of the Baekje Kingdom in the ‘Ungjin Fortress Water Gate Guard Duty Change Ceremony,’ and the night view at Geumgang Shingwan Park allows beautiful appreciation of Gongsanseong Fortress.
Myeongseong Bulgogi 〉
Myeongseong Bulgogi is a bulgogi restaurant with a 40-year tradition, featured on the TV program . The bulgogi offers a harmonious combination of tender texture and a savory, salty, and sweet flavor. Besides bulgogi, you can also enjoy yukhoe (raw beef), sirloin, and squid bulgogi. When ordering, a variety of side dishes are provided, and all food can be packaged to go. The interior features table seating with many seats available, accommodating groups as well.
Day 2
Jemincheon 〉
Jemincheon, a living ecological stream in the city center, originates from Geumhak-dong in Gongju-si and flows into the Geum River at Geumseong-dong, crossing the urban area. Currently, through an ecological stream creation project, it is protected (restored) as an environmentally friendly living ecological stream with walking trails and real tile paving, securing waterfront green spaces and resting areas, making it a comfortable place for Gongju citizens and travelers to visit. Also, as a river flowing through the city, it is developed into a cultural space where history and culture coexist and nature and people harmonize, providing a water-friendly area for residents.
Yeonmisan Natural Art Park 〉
Yeonmisan Natural Art Park is the only eco-friendly ecological art park in Korea specializing in natural art. It was established through the Geumgang Natural Art Biennale and Yatu Natural Art International Residency Program, organized by the Korea Natural Artists Association-Yatu. Visitors can see about 100 outdoor installation works by domestic and international artists. The installations harmonize with nature and are continuously replaced according to their lifespan, allowing visitors to enjoy a new experience each time.
