Hot springs then grilled eel and pancake
Dongnae Hot Springs have existed since the Silla period and were renowned as the best hot springs through the Joseon Dynasty. Although it has lost some of its fame to amusement theme parks, after using the various facilities of Heosimcheong, try replenishing your body with Dongnae's specialties: grilled eel and Dongnae pajeon. In the Oncheonjang Eel Alley, there are more than 10 eel restaurants, and the pajeon made with rice flour instead of wheat flour is even chewier. The pajeon is generously topped with seasoned meat, clams, shrimp, and other seafood, making it a sufficient meal.

Dongnae Market 〉
Dongnae Market, originally the largest 5-day market in the Busan area during the Joseon Dynasty, continues to be the largest traditional market in Dongnae today. Many stores in the market have maintained their long-standing traditions over an extended period. Most shops, including those selling oriental medicines surrounding the building's exterior, restaurants that rarely raise prices, and fashion accessories where bargaining with charm is possible, boast at least 40 to 50 years of experience. Because it is a market full of history and stories, it is also great to visit with children and family. (Source: Visit Busan)
Busan Bokcheon-dong Burial Mounds 〉
★4.6(8)These are Gaya-period tombs located on the hills around Busan Bokcheon-dong. Over 40 tombs have been confirmed through multiple excavations, but most remain underground. The tomb types include pit-style tombs with large chambers containing wooden coffins, stone chamber tombs built underground with square stone walls and covered ceilings, and simple pit graves where bodies are directly buried, among various other forms. Also known as Haksodae (鶴巢臺) burial mounds, named after the hill’s original name. About 10 tombs were first excavated by Dong-A University, followed by Busan University excavating three tombs on the eastern slope in 1974. Since then, more than 100 tombs have been investigated by Busan National University Museum and Busan Museum. Many large, untouched tombs yielded diverse relics. Pottery such as tripod plates, wooden jars, and pottery lamps represent characteristic artifacts of the lower Nakdong River region. Various iron armor and helmets were also excavated.
[Baeknyeon Gage] Dongnae Halmae Pajeon 〉
[Selected as a 'Baeknyeon Gage' by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups in 2018] Unlike regular pajeon, Dongnae Pajeon is thick and boasts a rich seafood flavor. The batter is made using jang, cooked in a cast iron pan shaped like a sotttuk (lid of a kettle) with plenty of oil, following traditional methods, and served with cho-gochujang (vinegar chili paste) which pairs well with the seafood, continuing the culture of 'Dongnae Pajeon.' Carefully prepared side dishes, brassware, and the vintage-style interior complement the story that 'Dongnae Bugsa presented it to the king.' It is a popular restaurant visited by locals of Dongnae-gu and people nationwide, and its fame has recently increased after appearing on popular gourmet programs. Chungnyeolsa 〉
★4.0(28)Chungnyeolsa enshrines the memorial tablets of patriots who died defending the Busan area during the Imjin War, including Dongnae Magistrate Song Sang-hyeon, Busanjin Commander Jeong Bal, and Dadaejin Commander Yun Heung-sin. It was designated as a Busan Gwangyeok-si Tangible Cultural Asset on June 26, 1972. In 1605 (Seonjo 38), then-Dongnae Magistrate Yoon Hwon built Songgongsa at Nongjusan outside the south gate of Dongnae Eupseong to enshrine Song Sang-hyeon's tablet and hold annual rites. Following a memorial by Seonwisa Lee Min-gu, Songgongsa was renamed Chungnyeolsa in 1624 (Injo 2). In 1652 (Hyojong 3), Dongnae Magistrate Yoon Mun-geo relocated Chungnyeolsa to its current site (Allak-dong), building a lecture hall (Sojuldang) and east and west dormitories (boarding houses) in front of the shrine, naming it Allakseowon to teach future generations the patriotism and scholarship of the patriots led by Song Sang-hyeon. Despite Heungseon Daewongun's 1871 (Gojong 8) order to abolish seowons, Allakseowon was spared due to its unique establishment and still exists today. The current Chungnyeolsa was renovated in 1978 and includes the main shrine (Bonjeon), Uiyeolgak, a memorial hall, a purification monument, a monument with Song Sang-hyeon's famous sayings, and the Chungnyeol Tower. Annual rites are conducted by the city on May 25, and additional rites are held at Allakseowon within Chungnyeolsa on the lunar calendar dates of the 2nd and 8th month 중정일 (Jungjeongil).
