Haesan Observatory 〉
Haesan, named as the mountain where the sun rises, is a beautiful mountain with an elevation of 1194m. It is also called Ilsan (日山) or Horangisan (Tiger Mountain). Because it is located in a civilian control zone, access was previously restricted for travelers, but now anyone can visit. From the Haesan Observatory on Haesan, you can see the panoramic view of Paroho Lake located nearby. It takes only about one hour by car from Chuncheon to Haesan, so many travelers come from Seoul, and some enthusiasts even arrive by bicycle.
Dutayeon 〉
Dutayeon is located in the civilian control zone. Prior entry application is possible through the Yanggu Security Tourism Integrated Reservation Site or on-site registration on the day of visit. On the day of the visit, visitors must complete the entry application and pledge form at the Geumgangsan Information Center, wear a GPS device, and depart punctually under guidance from the center. The ecological trail route is from Dutayeon Parking Lot → Ecological Trail → Dutayeon Parking Lot, and visitors must return at the designated time after approximately one hour of sightseeing. Dutayeon is a waterfall and plunge pool formed where the Satacheon, a tributary of the Suipcheon, meanders through mountainous areas, and the meander is cut off (meander cutoff). A plunge pool is a round, deeply carved water basin below a waterfall, formed by scouring actions of falling water and gravel, including abrasion and hydraulic excavation. The name Dutayeon originates from the nearby Dutasa Temple. (Source: Gangwon Peace Area National Geopark)
Goseong Unification Observatory Tower 〉
Standing on the 70m high Unification Observatory where the Military Demarcation Line and Southern Limit Line meet, you can see Guseonbong and Haegumgang of Geumgangsan nearby, and on clear days, Oknyubong, Chaehabong, and Ilchulbong are visible. The frontline outpost facing the Demilitarized Zone fence below gives a sense of the tension between South and North Korea. This is a representative tourist site in Goseong visited by over 1.5 million tourists annually, featuring religious facilities such as a statue of the Virgin Mary, Maitreya Buddha statue, and Jeonjin Iron Tower for displaced persons longing for the mountains and families left behind in the North and those praying for reunification, as well as security education exhibits like armored vehicles, tanks, and airplanes. The Donghae Line inter-Korean connecting road, opened in December 2004, enables views of the land route tours to Geumgangsan.
Ayajin Beach 〉
★3.8(8)Ayajin Beach is a place with beautiful surrounding scenery, where large and small rocks, clear sea, and clean white sand come together, making it suitable as a family vacation spot. The beach is covered with fine sand, and the water depth is about 1.5m to 2m up to 30 meters from the shore, allowing safe swimming. It is temporarily operated every year in cooperation with the military unit. Also, visitors can enjoy both fishing and swimming, leading to an increasing number of vacationers each year.
