Day 1
Jaein Waterfall 〉
Jaein Waterfall has long been widely known as a scenic spot. The waterfall is formed where a small stream flowing down from Jijangbong in the north pours down an approximately 18m high basalt columnar joint cliff, creating a spectacular sight. Around Jaein Waterfall, it is also known as a habitat for natural monuments such as Eoreumchi and endangered species like the pink dragonfly. A beautiful love story related to the name of the waterfall has been passed down. Various basalt features can be observed at Jaein Waterfall, notably columnar joints, undercut caves, potholes, and gas tubes. The waterfall, about 18m high, continues to erode the area below it, forming a pothole with a depth of 5m. A pothole is a deep hole formed when whirlpools occur in concave or broken parts of river rocks.

Bisugumi Village 〉
Hwacheon Bisugumi Village is a remote village located in Dongchon-ri, Hwacheon-eup, Hwacheon-gun, Gangwon-do Special Autonomous Province. Long ago, the construction of Hwacheon Dam and Paro Lake blocked the road, turning it into an island within the land. The name Bisugumi means nine kinds of beauty created by mysterious water. The nine beauties (Gumi) include the sound of water, clouds, a valley where fire-fallow fields were cultivated, grilled icefish, wild vegetable set meals, a suspension bridge, motorboats, the Bimok Tower, and the World Peace Bell. In the unpolluted Bisugumi Valley, visitors can see beautiful natural scenery dense with primeval forests and rocks. Wild orchids and flowers bloom, and fish that live only in clear valleys such as mountain trout, striped shiners, icefish, and trout inhabit the area. There are two ways to reach Bisugumi Village: by boat or trekking the ecological trail. By boat, it takes less than 10 minutes. In contrast, the Bisugumi ecological trail is a deep and quiet forest path passing the Haesan Tunnel before reaching the Peace Dam in Hwacheon, taking about two hours to reach the village. In Bisugumi Village, visitors can rest comfortably with nature. There are homestays run by villagers, offering neat meals made from wild vegetables they pick themselves, soybean paste, and cheonggukjang. The village borders Paro Lake, where fishing is enjoyed, and motorboat rides allow sightseeing of Peace Dam, Bimok Park, and the World Peace Bell Park. Entry to Bisugumi Village is restricted during the natural rest year system, so permission is required for trekking or valley visits.
Day 2
Georye-ri Arboretum & Banji Bridge 〉
Georye-ri Arboretum is a park created to maximize the value of Hwacheon's beautiful scenery, freshness, and lush oxygen as a top-quality resource nationwide, establishing itself as Green Tourism's number one destination. At the end of the walking trail, there is the quiet Banji Bridge crossing the Bukhan River, making it a good place for healing. It is directly connected to the Bukhan River bicycle road, making it popular among cycling clubs. Additionally, the ring-shaped Banji Bridge at the end of the arboretum trail is ideal for proposals and couple photos.
Bantaesan National Natural Recreation Forest 〉
★4.2(13)Bantaesan, which can be called the Korean version of Noah's Ark, is named as such. At the summit of Bantaesan, there was a roughly 2-ton rock with holes manually drilled in it, where ropes were tied to prevent a boat from being carried away during an ancient great flood. This rock was called Baedalone Stone. Even now, clam shells are sometimes found in the soil or sand within the crevices of rocks at the summit, evidencing that time, although the stone itself is no longer present. The vegetation of Bantaesan consists mostly of natural broadleaf forests, with some artificially planted areas. The main peaks, Guryongdeokbong (1,388m) and Jueokbong (1,443m), are the sources of the valleys that form the main watershed, resulting in abundant water flow. Notable scenic spots include Madangbawi (a flat, wide rock like a yard) and a two-tiered waterfall. The forest hosts a variety of tree species such as linden, birch, pine, and oak, offering beautiful natural scenery through the seasons ranging from lush greenery to autumn foliage and snowy landscapes. Diverse wildlife including fish like the endangered Korean trout, catfish, and striped shiner, as well as wild boars, rabbits, pheasants, roe deer, and squirrels, also inhabit the area.
Goseong Unification Observatory Tower 〉
Standing on the 70m high Unification Observatory where the Military Demarcation Line and Southern Limit Line meet, you can see Guseonbong and Haegumgang of Geumgangsan nearby, and on clear days, Oknyubong, Chaehabong, and Ilchulbong are visible. The frontline outpost facing the Demilitarized Zone fence below gives a sense of the tension between South and North Korea. This is a representative tourist site in Goseong visited by over 1.5 million tourists annually, featuring religious facilities such as a statue of the Virgin Mary, Maitreya Buddha statue, and Jeonjin Iron Tower for displaced persons longing for the mountains and families left behind in the North and those praying for reunification, as well as security education exhibits like armored vehicles, tanks, and airplanes. The Donghae Line inter-Korean connecting road, opened in December 2004, enables views of the land route tours to Geumgangsan.
